Subject: Textbook issues?
Dear Colleagues,
The beginning of the semester has go=
ne fairly smoothly in general but in particular, apparently, in terms=
of textbook issues.
I’ve received only two reports=
of issues.
If this is not an accurate reflectio=
n of reality, please let me know as soon as possible, since I will be repor=
ting these over to Student Affairs.
Thanks,
Greg

Would anyone who teach=
es on Mondays from 12:00 to 1:30 like to volunteer to let
Preview SIUE prospective students (and their parent/s) sit in on you=
r class for 15-30 minutes on October 8th? If you would lik=
e to participate, please let me know by the end of the day tomorrow, Friday=

This would be a one-time thing for students who are thinking of coming to =
SIUE to see inside a class in progress. Please see below. =

Subject: Preview class visits
Dear Colleagues,
Brian and I met with Todd Burrell an=
d Ryan Downey yesterday to talk about the new Preview schedule and to deter=
mine how much flexibility we had.
It turns out that there is considera=
ble flexibility in the afternoon from 12-2:00 concerning the classroom visi=
ts. That is, if classes start at any time from
12:00-1:30, it would be possible for visits to occur.
With this in mind, please send to Ci=
ndy Scarsdale any classes that you identify as visit candidates, along with=
a short description (two sentences?) that would
be helpful for someone trying to decide which classes to visit. If y=
ou could do this this Friday (Aug 31), that would be great. Some of y=
ou have sent classes, but not the short description, so if you resend with =
this additional information, it would be most
appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

Subject: [Graduate_program_directors] Accelerated Master's Program R=
eview Process
Good morning!
Many of you have expressed interest in developing an=
Accelerated Master’s Program. Thank you to those of you who me=
t with me to design the curriculum from bachelors to masters.
If you are interested in launching your Accelerated =
Master’s Program Fall 2019, you must submit this fall! We have =
developed a plan to expedite the program review process this fall only.&nbs=
p; If you miss this deadline, you will need to follow
the normal process for program changes and will not be able to begin your =
program until Fall 2020.
Expedited Process:
Develop a full curriculum, bachelors through masters=
, and list each course in a single document. This could look similar =
to your sample curriculum on your UG profile. Clearly mark, highlight=
, underline the courses that will dual count
for UG and Grad.
Write an explanation of the accelerated entry proces=
s and program to be used in the catalog description.
Complete a Form 91A for the UG program.
Complete a Form 91A for the Grad program.
Submit the entire packet through your School/College=
committee.
The entire packet, with School/College approval must be sent to the P=
rovost’s Office by October 12 at 4:30.
You will then attend an Accelerated Master’=
s Program Review October 25, 2018 at 2:30 in the Graduate School=
Conference Room. Once we’ve received all packets we will assig=
n times and notify you of your specific time block.
Please let me know if you have any questions. =
This is such an exciting opportunity for many programs! Thank you aga=
in for all of your work on these programs.
